Ethnomedicine (Tribal Medicine/Native Medicine)
During the past few years, people all over the world have started paying serious attention to a newer branch of science-ethnobiology. The most popular within it is ‘Ethno medicine’ or the ‘tribal medicines’. India with her 45000 plant species and 550 tribal communities has 160
linguistic groups inhabitated in varied geographic and climatic zones. With its diversified and varied culture, rich traditional knowledge and wisdom; India possesses an ethno botanical emporia.
Living close to nature, the tribal communities inherit the rich heritage of ethno medicine. Documenting their vast pool of Information and transforming it into a knowledge source
becomes very vital because:
1. Most of the ethnic communities do not script the information about prescriptions, pharmacology, disease diagnosis etc.
2. The people of modern societies are not aware of this rich heritage, even when it has enabled to identify many rare, threatened and new drug-yielding plants.
3. In the rapid pace of technological development the causality is the rich and unique tradition of the tribals.
This knowledge coupled with expertise in Modern Analytical techniques brings forth “an unparalleled opportunity” to explore the novel leads and potential drug candidates from the natural abundance of the Biodiverse Geographical locations.
We have Analytical Research & Pilot Scale Manufacturing Facility (Industrial Unit) to test and validate the formulation development.
